Doggie Doo Drain

How does the Doggie Doo Drain work?

Here’s a brief video to show you how to install.

And here is the Green Village Green Blog showing how Carol installed hers and why!

It's as simple as 1 - 2 - 3

  1. 1. Locate your sewer or septic clean out and unscrew the cap. Clean-outs are usually located within 3 feet of home’s perimeter
  2. 2. Screw in Doggie Doo Drain to sewer/septic clean-out and remove Doggie Doo Drain lid
  3. 3. Place waste in Doggie Doo Drain cylinder and rinse down with hose, replace Doggie Doo Drain lid.

Do I need a plumber to install the Drain?

No you don’t!  It’s easy.  You might need an adjustable wrench to loosen the sewer clean out cap.

Where will I find my sewer cleanout cap?

Clean-outs are usually located within 3 feet of home’s perimeter.

This is what your sewer clean out might look like

Why is dog poop such an environmental challenge?

Check out Doggie Blog #2, What to do with doggie poo.

How do I keep my Doggie Doo Drain clean, and stop the sewer pipe from blocking?

Keep a hose pipe nearby or a watering can.  If you scoop dry waste, you won't need to use water every time.  If the waste is wet, then sluice down with water.  If you have a large quantity to dispose of at once, it might clog the clean out pipe if you throw it down all in one go, in which case just wash down with water.  If you put it down more slowly, you may not even need water.  Never flush plastic bags.  Try and keep leaves and sticks to a minimum.

How long will my Doggie Doo Drain last?

How long does strong plastic last?  We are expecting this product to last many years.

Why can't I use normal plastic poo bags with the Doggie Doo Drain?

NO! NO! NO! Normal plastic bags will not break down and could block the sewer line (not a good idea!).  Flushable bags coming to the Shop very soon.

What other ways are there to dispose of dog poo?

Check out this blog article.

Can I dispose of cat waste too?

We'll investigate this and let you know soon.

N.B. DON'T put cat litter down the Doggie Doo Drain unless it is the wheat variety - clay will block the drain!
